Announcing the WIAL Problem Statement Winners

The WiCS × Opportunity Hack Spring 2026 hackathon recently wrapped, and as part of our standard post-hackathon audit, Opportunity Hack completed a deep review of all submissions addressing the WIAL problem statement. Our mission has always been clear: deliver working, deployable solutions that nonprofits can actually use. After scrutinizing project presentations, codebases, and accessibility features, two teams have emerged as winners, each showcasing unique strengths.

GlobeWIAL: Polished UI and Accessibility

GlobeWIAL impressed judges with a strong presentation, a polished user interface, and thoughtful accessibility features that align well with inclusivity goals. They will keep the monitors awarded as their prize. However, during our audit, it was observed that their submission fell short when mapped against key judging criteria such as scope and polish in deployment readiness. We recognize opportunities for improvement in our judging process—namely, facilitating judge questions during the hackathon and more thorough code scanning—to ensure transparency and accuracy in future reviews.

NaNpossible: Comprehensive and Production-Ready

NaNpossible rose to the challenge with a solution that embodies all facets of our judging criteria. Their project features a working multi-tenant architecture, integrated payment systems, voice accessibility, and an AI chatbot. Most importantly, they designed with WIAL chapter leads and administrators in mind, building a feature set that is production-ready and focused on real-world utility. In recognition of their outstanding achievement, NaNpossible will receive the full prize package including monitors and prize money.

Beyond the Demo: Building for Real Impact

At Opportunity Hack, a hackathon project is not just a flashy demo—it's the launchpad for meaningful, scalable impact. The scope, completeness, and production readiness of a solution matter just as much as polish. We congratulate both GlobeWIAL and NaNpossible for their efforts and eagerly anticipate working alongside them to deliver a final product that will empower WIAL. Together, we’re engineering a future where technology and nonprofit missions sync perfectly, from code lines to impact signs.

Stay tuned for updates as we move forward with the exciting next steps!
