Opportunity Hack (founded by PayPal in 2013 to positively impact our community) and Silicon Valley Code Camp SVCC (a community of impassioned developers, speakers and sponsors) have partnered to bring the next Opportunity Hack to Silicon Valley.

We are excited to have as our sponsors PayPal, Microsoft and IBM. This two-day hackathon (Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 24-25) brings students, software professionals and these top Silicon Valley companies together to create solutions for non-profits, local governments and social enterprises.

- 9.30 AM - After the opening keynote address, the fun begins! Our non-profits will all have an opportunity to pitch their ideas to all the participants.  We'll be moving this along quickly so that we can move into team building.You can bring a whole team, but if you don't we're pretty good at facilitating team formation. Please note that the pitch session is for only non-profits pitching ideas.
- 11:00 a.m.  It's time to get your Hack On!  You have from now until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday!  We're providing meals and snacks and support around the clock.

- 2:00 p.m. on Sunday it's time to let the keyboard rest.  You'll want to have your solutions and presentation ready for a three minute presentation to the judges with some Q&A.

Since 2012 as a 501c3 nonprofit, Our goal is to end poverty both of Human dignity and monetarily. We work with people in their community to build relationships that cultivate success. We work in coalition or make referrals to answer request. If a resource does not exist, we produce the actions necessary to end suffering.

Make an investment in love and kindness is a principle for each individual to carry out through action achieved through volunteering or making a monetary donation.

Matthew's Crossing Food Bank's mission is to unite our community in the fight against hunger.  For over 13 years, Matthew's Crossing has been committed to alleviating hunger by providing food and other basic necessities to our neighbors in need.  Our staff and volunteers strive to serve our clients with compassion so that they can preserve their dignity and have hope for a better future.

The food bank was founded in 2001 by Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Chandler. Father John saw a need in the community and began the food bank in the small church kitchen. In 2005, the need in the community grew so large that the leadership applied for and received  Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank 501c3 nonprofit status. 

Matthew's Crossing Food Bank's core services are 1 providing emergency food boxes 2 distribution of holiday food boxes and 3 Meals to Grow – a weekend outof school backpack/meal program.  Clients can receive one emergency food box each month. The food box provides about 4  6 days of hunger relief.  The food bank also provides existing clients with holiday food boxes. These food boxes are provided to the clients around the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays. Meals to Grow is a partnership with area schools where students K12  can pick up a backpack each Friday. The backpack has two breakfasts, three dinners, two lunches and some snacks to last the weekend.

Matthew's Crossing Food Bank

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue is a nokill rescue that was founded in 2008 as a grassroots response to the thousands of pets in need as a result of the economic downturn which left so many people and pets displaced. Our purpose is to provide pet parents going through life crises with compassionate services that help keep pets and pet parents together, we also help pets find their forever families when they have been surrendered or abandoned.  

Our understanding of the humananimal bond drives our community programs such as our Temporary Care Program which helps pet parents going through crises such as homelessness, domestic violence or a hospital stay so they do not have to permanently surrender their pet. We care for their pets for up to 90 days while the pet parent is getting back on their feet. Many domestic violence and homeless shelters do not allow pets which can cause people to remain in unsafe situations to avoid giving up or losing their pet. We facilitate a pet companion shelter at Sojourner Center for victims of domestic violence which allows pets to stay near their pet parent while they are seeking temporary safety.  

For pet parents who are struggling financially we offer a pet food bank and Animeals on Wheels program providing food and necessary supplies to fill the hungry bellies of pets. We also offer lowincome boarding to provide less costly pet boarding for pet parents who need short term care for their pet. These programs are meant to help pet parents and their pets stay together but if the pet parent is unable to find a way to keep their pet, and choose to surrender the pet, they will become available for adoption and find a new forever home.

Release the Fear, Inc. RTF was founded in 1996 and awarded non profit status in 2002. Since then, RTF has been delivering life changing programs to thousands of under served and disengaged youth to help them realize they have the ability to make their dreams, their reality. 
RTF mission is to counter the effects of violence in our communities by turning fear, anger, and hate into acceptance, hope and self empowerment, bridging endless possibilities through the creative process. 
RTF vision is to inspire and empower youth with the tools to make better life choices.

Child Crisis Arizona

Chandler Christian Community Center’s mission is to change lives by nourishing minds and bodies to create a connected, thriving community. CCCC was founded in 1966 and provides for the basic and emergency needs of individuals and families through a number of programs. At CCCC residents are able to access emergency and supplemental food through the Chandler Food Bank; emergency rent and utility assistance, financial literacy training and VITA tax assistance, and case management through the Community Action Programs CAP; and home delivered and congregate meals through the Senior Nutrition Program. The Family Resource Center offers educational programs early childhood literacy, parenting and ESL classes, and school supplies, health/wellness services enrollment of public benefits, wellness checks, HIV/STD testing, access to children’s fluoride treatments, and family play groups, holiday toy drives, and volunteer opportunities. IHELP provides homeless individuals with safe overnight lodging, meals, case management and connections to community services through partnerships with faith and community organizations. CCCC offers the convenience of a onestop environment to address a myriad of individual and family basic needs.

Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels is a nonprofit, support and educational organization designated by the IRS as a 501c3 taxdeductible, taxexempt organization, founded in 2012 in celebration of Amanda Hope’s life.

During her threeyear fight with leukemia and ninemonth battle with a brain tumor, Amanda Hope dreamed that one day she would design a fun clothing line for kids just like her that would provide comfort and dignity during chemo treatments. Amanda's life ended all too soon but her dream lives on through our Comfycozy's for Chemo apparel and her legacy continues with our expansion of programs and services.

Hope For Hunger Food Bank opened its doors in 2012. It is part of the St Mary's Alliance of Food Banks, and is one of the largest food banks serving emergency food assistance to low to moderate income residents, families within 17 zip codes. The Food Bank serves an average of 700 clients per week. With an average of 5 per family that's 14000 per month! The food bank founders had no history of food banks, no grant writers, no funding and no employees. Just passion to serve the community. Thankfully, 5 years later, we are still in existence  due to the volunteers that have embraced the food bank as their own.

Hope For Hunger Food Bank

In April of 2015 the Two Hearts Horsemanship Program was relocated to Gilbert, Arizona after a highly successful 6 year run at a prominent local children's home in Mesa, Arizona for the purposes of program expansion.  Equine Assisted Growth and Development is used to help break down entrenched defenses against emotional healing displayed by the many traumatized individuals.  It is well known that people often require many months of ononone traditional talk therapy before even the slightest breakthrough can be made.  Naturally such slow progress inhibit the healing process for these people.  As a result many of them never find a way to "release" their anger and pain, and continue to move through life emotionally scarred and unable to trust and love themselves or others.

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness through providing support, education, and advocacy.  NAMI Valley of the Sun is a local affiliate of NAMI Arizona and serves the Greater Phoenix Area.  We offer evidence based education and support, maintain a presence in the community, participate in local legislative advocacy efforts, and sponsor community building activities and events.  

Our trained NAMI volunteers bring peerled programs to a wide variety of community settings, from churches to schools to community centers and mental health agencies.  With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, these programs and support groups provide outstanding FREE education, skills training and support to the entire community.  

We inspire mental health recovery through our following Signature Programs:
•        FamilytoFamily – This evidence based program includes 12sessions for family and friends of people living with mental illness.  The program teaches strengthsbased communication strategies, how to communicate with your loved one during times of crisis, how to best support your loved one, how to navigate the mental health system, and the promotion of selfcare strategies to reduce compassion fatigue.  FamilytoFamily is nationally recognized as a best practice.  Research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problemsolving abilities of the whole family unit
•        NAMI Basics – This 6week class is designed for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents who are experiencing signs and symptoms of mental illness.  Participants are taught the facts about mental health conditions and how to best support their child at home, at school, and when seeking medical care.
•        In Our Own Voice – This presentation for the general public promotes awareness about mental illness and the possibility of recovery.  People with lived experience share their stories of struggle, hope, and triumph as it relates to their own personal journey through mental illness.
•        Parents & Teachers as Allies – This presentation for teachers and other school personnel is designed to raise their awareness about mental illness and help them recognize and respond to early warning signs and the importance of early intervention.
•        NAMI Connections – A weekly support group for people living with a mental health condition, NAMI Connections offers individuals the opportunity to explore coping strategies and develop a natural support system.
•        NAMI Family Support Group – A weekly or monthly support group for family members, partners, and friends of individuals living with a mental illness, this program offers information, resources, and ongoing support.

The Institute for Digital Progress iDP is a nonprofit devoted to making Greater Phoenix a major hub of smart city technology driven by collaborative civic innovation. We provide resources and expertise to support civicminded entrepreneurs in their development of new products and services, as well as opportunities to collaborate with others, test ideas and develop business models. We are transforming Phoenix into a living lab in order to accelerate urban ideas to market, grow the economy and make our cities better 

History
The Institute for Digital Progress is a 501c3, 501a2, nonprofit organization that was incorporated in 2015. iDP's primary initiative is the Smart City Hack SCH competition. In 2015, iDP conceptualized and developed the Smart City Hack competition, in partnership with the city of Barcelona, Spain. The SCH is an international competition that brings together cities from all over the world Dubai, Lyon, Ghent, NY, San Francisco, Helsinki and more and hundreds of startups and entrepreneurs. The goal is to turn our citizens into entrepreneurs and empower them to develop functioning technology products that solve pressing civic challenges. By creating this global marketplace of cities, the competition provides a platform for our entrepreneurs to transform cities on a global scale.

After the 2015 competition, the SCH included 11 cities worldwide, supported over 6,500 engaged citizens and a total of 164 finished products were presented. Local startup ParkX was selected our Grand Champion and represented the city of Phoenix at the international competition at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona.

GallantFew's mission is to facilitate a peaceful, successful transition from military service to a civilian life filled with hope and purpose.

Background:  
GallantFew was founded by Veterans for Veterans.  Since 2010, GallantFew has been building a global network of United States military Veteran mentors "Guides".  The core focus of GallantFew is oneonone mentoring by a Veteran, previously transitioned and now established in a civilian occupation, with a Veteran "Future Guide'.  GallantFew is representative of Veterans from all branches of uniformed service, with no interservice rivalry.  We want to prevent Veterans from becoming isolated and frustrated. 

The Goal of GallantFew:  
Our goal is to one day provide every transitioning Veteran from every branch of the service with a Veteran mentor, just like him or her, in the same hometown.

Marcos de Niza Choir Drama Parents & Friends, also known as MdN CDP, has been a registered tax exempt nonprofit organization since 2008. MDNCDP was formed to serve as champions of the MdN High School Choir and Drama Programs.  We assist the Choral Director, Drama Director, school staff and administration in providing the students with premier quality choral and theatre education, one of the best in the state. As well as, MdN CDP helps to support and promote the program with community outreach, seek out funding opportunities, and acts as a central resource for program communication to parents.
